In May 2023, students of Shude International Department went to Guangxi for social activities during the CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) Week. Though away from campus, the experience left profound impacts on the students. They volunteered as a teacher at a local rural primary school, and did challenging activities in the outdoors, which provided a great chance for them to learn from personal experiences, put what they have learned in class into use, as well as know themselves and the world better.
Several weeks before the teaching activity began, our students had made teaching plans in groups. Also, some new elements were introduced in this year’s outdoor activities program, including extreme sports such as rock climbing and Via Ferrata, i.e. mountain climbing (ziplining, tightrope walking, rappelling, etc.).
